Zomba Police have registered 50 cases of child sexual offences between January and June this year, up from 38 during the same period in 2024.
Community Police Coordinator Naison Chibondo said the increase is partly due to a growing willingness among communities to report such crimes.
He also noted that police have intensified awareness campaigns aimed at promoting the protection of children’s rights.
