Malawi’s creative scene has a rising star: Seany Mandala, aka Seany Films. From shooting short clips on his dad’s phone in primary school to becoming one of the country’s most popular videographers, Seany’s journey shows how passion grows into profession.
He’s built his name by producing high-quality work, staying on top of trends, and telling stories that connect with Malawians. But it hasn’t been easy — limited gear, tough competition, and balancing creativity with client needs have tested him. Still, he kept pushing, learning, and staying true to his style.
One of his proudest works is The Unseen Malawi documentary, showcasing hidden places and untold stories.
Seany hopes to see Malawi’s videography go global — and dreams of working with Edgah Esteves from Blank Square Production.
