Musician Ritaa has expressed disappointment over rumors circulating online linking her to a former government minister.
In a Facebook live, she said the speculation was sparked by an old photo from a performance she did last year at Blues in Blantyre where the minister was in attendance, before he even became minister and as famous as he is now.
Rita explained that this was at a show hosted by Phyzix.
Ritaa also addressed rumors surrounding her recent car purchase, stressing that she has worked hard to achieve it. “There are many things I do. I am a student, I have multiple businesses, and I am capable of buying a car on my own,” she said.
She further questioned why women’s achievements are often tied to men. “Should women stop pushing their dreams just to avoid being linked to someone? Are we saying women can’t make big moves on their own without being accused of sleeping with someone?” she asked.
The singer emphasized that she is in a committed relationship and clarified that the former minister in question is a married man.
