Pope Francis has been discharged from Gemelli Hospital in Rome after receiving medical treatment, with doctors recommending two months of rest for a full recovery.
Rome’s mayor, Roberto Gualtieri, described the Pope’s discharge as a “great gift” to the city and the world, expressing joy at seeing him leave the hospital in good health.
Before leaving, Pope Francis appeared at a hospital window to bless the crowd gathered outside—a momentous occasion as it was his first public blessing since being hospitalized on February 14.
Despite being cleared to leave, medical experts say the 88-year-old leader of the Catholic Church needs adequate rest before resuming full duties. However, reports indicate he is recovering well and could return to work anytime.
Pope Francis has now led the Catholic Church for 12 years, continuing his mission despite recent health challenges.
