72 Mpox cases recorded in Malawi

Mpox cases are on the rise in Malawi. The Public Health Institute of Malawi says the country now has 72 confirmed cases, up from 64 in April — with Lilongwe leading at 49. According to an article by the Daily Times, other cases have been spotted in Machinga, Salima, Ntcheu, Likoma, Nkhatabay, Mzimba South, and Karonga.

The good news? 47 people have already recovered, and there have been no deaths since the outbreak started in April. But health officials are urging everyone to stay alert: keep up hygiene, report any suspected symptoms, and get vaccinated where possible.

The Ministry of Health has already started rolling out vaccines, with support from WHO, to stop the spread.
