MERA Shuts Down Mchinji Border Filling Station for Selling Fuel in Jugs ⛽🚫

MERA has shut down Mchinji Border TotalEnergies Filling Station after catching them selling fuel in jerrycans and buckets—basically turning the place into a wholesale fuel depot. 🚨

According to MERA’s legal director Clement Ng’ambi, this is a clear violation of Section 41 (e) of the 2004 fuel sales regulations. In short, selling fuel like it’s cooking oil is illegal—and now, they’re paying the price.

Meanwhile, Central West Region Police boss Barbra Mchenga Tsiga says security has been tightened at the Malawi-Zambia border to stop fuel from crossing over illegally. And so far? They’ve seized 840 liters of fuel and arrested five Zambians and one Malawian who thought they could pull off a black-market fuel business.

Looks like fuel smuggling just got a major L, and MERA isn’t playing. If you were planning to buy fuel in a Chibuku bottle—better think twice! 😂⛽
