The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has announced that polling stations across the country will be open from 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, when Malawians go to the polls.
MEC explained that the earlier closing time is intended to allow vote counting to begin during daylight.
However, the Commission has clarified that those who will be on the queue by closing time will be allowed to vote.
September 16 has also been declared a public holiday to give citizens the opportunity to participate in the elections without work-related hustles.
