A 20-year-old man identified as Shukulani Ackimu has been sentenced to 8 years imprisonment for defiling a 14-year-old girl and impregnating her.
The incident, according to reports, happened in Balaka, and the court heard that the man committed the offence between July 2023 to January 2025 at Phalula Village.
The man had initially pled not guilty to the charge, but state lawyers worked with 5 witnesses to prove that Shukulani Ackimu committed the crime.
