Malawi Snake Rescue Urges Public to Stop Killing Snakes

Malawi Snake Rescue has appealed to the public to stop killing snakes, saying they play a key role in the country’s ecosystem — according to an article by Times 360 Malawi.

Times says the organization’s official, Anaclete Josen, made the call after a black mamba died during a rescue attempt in Lilongwe. The snake had been attacked with sticks and bitten by dogs before experts could save it. Yeah, before they could “save” the snake.

Josen, who also teaches at Catholic University in Chiradzulu, warned that trying to kill snakes puts people at greater risk of being bitten as the reptiles fight to defend themselves.
