Malawi’s Strategic Fuel Reserves are running low, with stocks falling below daily consumption needs — reports Times 360 Malawi.
According to the platform’s article, as of 22 September 2025, Lilongwe had 397,633 litres of petrol, Blantyre 549,695 litres, and Mzuzu 84,656 litres — totalling 1.03 million litres against the daily demand of 1.5 million.
NOCMA CEO Clement Kanyama apparently said the institution is engaging with the Reserve Bank of Malawi to restock while assuring that importers and partners are still transporting fuel into the country.
The crazier thing is… NOCMA currently owes suppliers over US$52 million.
