Police in Lilongwe have recovered an explosive device from a scrap metal dealer in Area 23.
According to reports, police say the item was found at the dealer’s premises and was later confirmed by explosives experts to be a dangerous military explosive.
The object has since been taken to Lilongwe Police Headquarters for safe custody. Authorities say it will be destroyed at the Police School in Mtakataka, Dedza.
No arrests have been made so far, but police are investigating how the scrap dealer came into possession of the explosive.
