Five Men in AKA & Tibz Murder Case Face Another Pre-Trial Conference

The case of five men linked to the 2023 murder of rapper Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes and his friend Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane is once again set for a pre-trial conference in the Durban High Court.

The suspects, currently in custody, face multiple charges including murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and the unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition. Forbes and Motsoane were gunned down outside a Durban restaurant in 2023.

Pre-trial conferences are held to help the court and lawyers prepare evidence, discuss procedural issues, and set trial dates. During the last court appearance, Judge Jaqueline Henriques ordered the state to provide the defence with key evidence, including ballistic reports, CCTV footage, bank statements of the accused, and affidavits of 45 witnesses expected to testify.

The court also banned the use of recording devices, and media houses are currently barred from broadcasting the proceedings.
