‘Tsotsi’ Star Presley Chweneyagae Dies

South African actor Presley Chweneyagae, widely known for his breakout role in the Oscar-winning film Tsotsi, has passed away. He was 39.

Chweneyagae shot to fame in 2005 when he starred as the lead in Tsotsi, a gripping drama that went on to win the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. The role earned him international acclaim and cemented his place in African cinema history.

In more recent years, Chweneyagae became a household name again for his role as Cobra in the popular South African TV drama The River, where he played a troubled and layered character that resonated with many viewers across the continent, including Malawi.
