Prophet Shepherd Bushiri is not happy with South African authorities—especially after a court gave the green light to sell his R50 million private jet.
A North Gauteng High Court ruled on April 3 that the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) can go ahead and auction off Bushiri’s Bombardier Challenger 604, claiming it was bought using dirty money linked to fraud and money laundering. The jet has been parked at Lanseria Airport since 2020, when Bushiri and his wife Mary fled South Africa.
But Bushiri, in a Facebook post, isn’t holding back. He says the whole thing is unfair and politically motivated. According to him, the same charges were already thrown out by a court in Malawi.
“The same allegations were dismissed as mere accusations, and the case was removed from the court list,” reads part of his statement. “It’s shocking that the NPA is going ahead with the sale over charges that no longer stand.”
The jet sale has stirred fresh debate online, with supporters defending the prophet and critics pointing to unresolved legal battles in SA.
