The High Court of Malawi has stopped the extradition of Shepherd and Mary Bushiri to South Africa.
The ruling was made on 31 October 2025 by Justice Mzonde Mvula, who said the earlier decision by the Magistrate’s Court was wrong and not supported by enough evidence.
This means the Bushiris will not be sent back to South Africa, where they are wanted for fraud and money laundering charges.
The couple escaped from South Africa in 2020 and returned to Malawi, saying they were not getting a fair trial there.
